Violet nominated for Ivors Classical Award

Violet has been nominated for an Ivors Classical Award for Best Stage Work.

With text by Alice Birch and directed by Jude Christian, it opened the 2022 Aldeburgh Festival and toured the UK, before having further lives in productions in Ulm, Germany and in Paris. It was co-commissioned by Music Theatre Wales and Britten Pears Arts. It was also nominated for an International Opera Award, a South Bank Sky Arts Award and a UK Theatre Award.

The ceremony is on 14 November and will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on the 18th. Also nominated in the Best Stage Work category are Least Like the Other and The Scorched Earth Trilogy by Brian Irvine, Like Water for Chocolate by Joby Talbot, and Orpheus by Jasdeep Singh Degun.
