Violet – Cast, Creatives & Dates
Some new details on my upcoming opera, Violet, with writer Alice Birch:
I couldn’t be more delighted with our cast and creative team for the project – our director is Jude Christian, working with designer Rosie Elnile and costume designer Cécile Trémolières. Andrew Gourlay will act as music director, conducting the London Sinfonietta.
Our cast is: Anna Dennis (Violet – soprano), Richard Burkhard (Felix – baritone), Frances Gregory (Laura – mezzo soprano) and Andrew Mackenzie Wicks (Clockkeeper – tenor).

Creatives
It is a co-commision by Britten-Pears Arts and Music Theatre Wales, with associations with Royal Opera House and Theater Ulm. After its premiere at the Aldeburgh Festival with two performances, our tour will see performances in Cardiff, London, Mold and Buxton.
The story concerns the inhabitants of a village which begins losing hours from its day – one night, an hour disappears. On day two, two hours are missing, on day three, three are gone. Our story takes place over 24 increasingly short days, as time drains from the world, until the opera snaps shut as the final hour disappears.
Most of the tickets are now on sale. There may also be opportunities for those in Europe to see Violet – more of which later…
