Scene from ‘Violet’ staged by National Opera Studio

Violet, my opera with Alice Birch, is being featured in a show of contemporary opera scenes by the National Opera Studio in Leeds and London, directed by Olivia Fuchs. Sarah Seunghwa Chae (as Violet) & Laura Fleur (as Laura) will sing Day 20, one of the final scenes of the opera, with members of Orchestra of Opera North conducted by Garry Walker, alongside scenes from operas by Tansy Davies, Jonathan Dove, Søren Nils Eichberg, Elena Kats-Chernin, Steven Mackey, Errollyn Warren and Judith Weir.

The semi-staged production will be seen firstly at Leeds’ Howard Assembly Rooms on 29 April, before two dates at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall, on 2 and 3 April. Tickets here (Leeds) and here (London).
