New production of Violet at Theater Ulm
Violet, my opera written with writer Alice Birch which premiered in the UK earlier this year, is receiving its German premiere in a second production, at Theater Ulm, Germany. It is being directed by Rahel Thiel with designs by Maike Häber.
Soprano Maria Rosendorfsky will take the lead role of Violet, with baritone Martin Gäbler as Felix, Carolina Krogius as Laura and Joshua Spink as the Clockkeeper. Hendrik Haas conducts members of the Philharmonische Orchester der Stadt Ulm.
The premiere is on the 28th October at Autohaus Hanser & Leiber, and it’ll run for seven performances across November and into December. It’s very exciting for Violet to have a second production so soon after the first (a third will premiere in Paris next year).
That first UK production has recently been nominated for a UK Theatre Award, in the ‘Achievement in Opera’ category. My thanks go to the incredible team of artists and producers who made the show happen.
