Acheronta Movebo – 26th November
This Friday is the performance of Acheronta Movebo by Vaganza, with Michael Jones as soloist. Vaganza are Manchester University’s contemporary music ensemble, and Friday sees a celebration of the music of Helmut Lachenmann. My composition is in the lunchtime concert at Manchester’s Martin Harris Centre, which also features Lachenmann’s Consolation II, as well as works by Caroline Ferry, Joy Chou, Henry Mitton and David Wishart
The evening concert will feature Lachenmann’s Trio Fluido, Guero, Cradle Music and Notturno, alongside more student works by Eilyahu Assayag, Hannah Taylor, Robin Stevens, Keith McAlister, Leo Geyer and Josh Spear.
In addition, Professor Matthias Hermann of the Musikhochschule Stuttgart is in Manchester to talk about Lachenmann’s Notturno – he will talk at 2.15 on Thursday in the Cosmo Rodewald Hall (where the concerts are due to be happening). For more information on all the Lachenmann goings on, I refer you to Chris Swithinbank’s Programme Notes for the concerts.
